‘Editor’s Corner’ is a monthly-ish series highlighting what I’m loving, what I’ve been up to, what’s on my mind and more.
1. I hope you made it through “Maycember” okay! It’s such a busy month for many with graduations, end of the season events and activities, and in a lot of ways the “unofficial start of summer.” It was super busy month for us – and somehow June is even busier. All good though, lots of fun and exciting happenings that’s for sure.
2. My heart goes out to all those who were affected by the tornados and severe weather this month. The weather has been absolutely crazy lately. Greenfield, in particular, was severely affected. If you’d like, here’s how you can help.
3. And just like that, our sweet Lake is FIVE! She – and all of us – had such a fun time at her Barbie-themed birthday party. We also continued our birthday interview tradition.
4. Lake had her Preschool graduation this month and it was the cutest thing ever. One of the ceremony highlights were the three songs they sang – one of which was the bridge and final chorus to Taylor Swift’s “Long Live.” Of course I didn’t get teary-eyed at all. 😉
5. I had a great Mother’s Day hanging out with my favorite crew. We went to The Big Bounce America in Council Bluffs. It’s “the largest touring inflatable event in the world” and the girls had an absolute blast. I’ll be writing a blog post with tips on our experience soon. (Link to blog post)
6. The thrift shopping lover in me needs to share that both dresses the girls are wearing in the photo above were thrifted. They’re both vintage and were thrifted from Goodwill in Sedona, Arizona when we visited in 2022.
7. Finding this our sort of blew my mind.
8. Father’s Day will be here soon! Check out my Gift Guide if you need some ideas.
9. Lake had another fun gymnastics season! We enjoyed watching her perform at her ‘Spring Fling‘ – an annual showcase where gymnasts perform for their family and friends. We loved watching her show all the skills she learned this past season!
10. I’ve been seeing bags like this one everywhere and it looks like it would be especially great for the pool or beach.
11. This is random but I have a PSA on baby oil. This month I found out it’s amazing at removing temporary tattoos (which both my kids love to wear often) and attaching shoe charms to Croc shoes:
- To remove a temporary tattoo – Apply a generous amount of baby oil on a cotton round, tissue or paper towel, then press and hold on the tattoo. The oil breaks up the adhesive and the tattoo wipes off easily.
- To attach charms to Crocs – If you’ve ever added shoe charms to Crocs then you know it can be
difficulta huge struggle to get the charm pegs through the small Croc holes. (The smaller the size of the Croc shoes the more difficult). Slather the charm pegs with baby oil and insert the hole of the Croc at an angle. The baby oil gives the peg some slip and helps immensely. - Speaking of Croc charms, we have these and these and they are really cure. I also just saw these and they’re adorable as well.
12. At T’s nephew’s graduation this month, his high school friends were having a blast playing this game.
13. Speaking of games, this is Lake’s current favorite. Lately we’ve been playing it right before bedtime.
14. Love this: The importance of play.
15. Two pairs of shorts I’ll be living in this summer: These and these.
16. The trailer for Moana 2 was just released. It comes out the day before Thanksgiving, so it would make for a fun outing over the holiday weekend.
17. A hidden car feature you may have.
18. And lastly, ONE GOOD QUOTE:
“Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.”
-HENRY VAN DYKE
Hope you have a great June!
