I can hardly believe our sweet Lake is FIVE! Time has simply flown by and I have no doubt the next five ALL of the coming years will as well.
This was the first year Lake had a friend birthday party. (Previously we’ve just had parties with family). She invited some good friends and her entire preschool class. Her party was at Sky Zone and everyone had a great time. She chose a Barbie theme (and has told me she would like a Taylor Swift theme next year, haha). She also took Krispy Kreme doughnuts to school on her birthday – Strawberry Iced Doughnut with Sprinkles to be exact.
One of her birthday highlights was going to Claire’s for the first time to pick out some items. This was her first time shopping there and to say she was enamored is an understatement. She chose a small stuffed animal and some jewelry. She also got to shop for a toy she wanted and we had lunch at Culver’s – her pick. We’ll get together with family soon and celebrate as well.

We have a couple of traditions we do each year – a birthday photoshoot and a birthday interview. In the past, I’ve just taken the photos in front of our garage, but this year I took them at Water Works Park. This time of year the crababble trees begin to bloom, which provide a beautiful backdrop. As you can tell from the photos above, Lake does not like having her photo taken at all, haha. She is so photogenic and absolutely loves posing and getting her photo taken.
For her birthday interview I asked her the same questions I’ve asked in the past with the addition of some new ones – all while shooting video of the interview. I’m opting not to share her answers online going forward but be sure to check out THIS POST if you would like to conduct a birthday interview for your child or children as well. It’s a wonderful way to capture memories of them as they grow up.

Happy Birthday, Lake! You are such a light in our lives and we can’t wait to see what all the new and wonderful things FIVE has in store for you!
