‘Editor’s Corner’ is a monthly-ish series highlighting what I’m loving, what I’ve been up to, what’s on my mind and more.
1. I’ve been really lucky in that I haven’t had too many technical issues with my blog. Recently, however, I had an issue with hyperlinks not displaying and so I had to have a site restoration. That’s why there were no blog posts – and no Editor’s Corner – last month/in February. My IT person wasn’t able to pinpoint the issue so now I’m being hyper vigilant in checking everything. Of course, it’s difficult to prevent something form happening if you don’t know the cause, so essentially I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn’t happen again.
2. Since the draft of February’s Editor’s Corner got lost during the site restore, here’s a quick rundown of some February highlights that I can recall from the top of my mind:
- I had a great birthday! T and I had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Proudfoot & Bird, the girls crafted me adorable handmade birthday cards and I had a relaxing spa session at Coachlight Clinic & Spa.
- My best friend Kelsi and I went and got pedicures (her thoughtful birthday gift to me!) and we had fun chatting and catching up. We also attended a really neat gua sha class taught by Aleisha at Skin By Knight.
- I enjoyed watching the Olympic Marathon Trials as it’s one of my favorite sporting events. I cheered so hard through the screen for my favorite runner, Sara Hall. She just missed making the the team, but put forth an incredible effort.
- The Super Bowl was also fun to watch. I followed the 49ers all season because of Brock Purdy. It was a bummer that they lost, but what an incredible season he and the team had. I’m already excited for the next one. Fun Fact: In 2018, T and Keith Murphy, traveled to Arizona and interviewed Brock’s parents and high school football coach.
- We for sure enjoyed the record high temps in February. I still can’t believe it reached 78 degrees!
- Lastly, it goes without saying I was SO EXCITED about Taylor announcing a new album.
3. Anyways, back to present day. Happy Easter! I hope you had a fun and/or relaxing day with loved ones. We had a nice holiday. We had lunch with family today at The Brown Bottle. (If you go, I highly recommend the Shrimp in Dill Butter Pasta. So good!) Yesterday we went to ‘Egg Palooza’ at Howell’s, which is a “chaos-free” egg hunt. (They provide an egg carton to collect empty eggs to then be redeemed for prizes). The girls also had fun playing at all the activities in the Farmyard. Lake and Etta’s Easter baskets were a hit. I was fortunate to do a collab with Chocolate Storybook this month and got to pick out some really neat toys, books and treats for their baskets.
4. Let’s back up to St. Patrick’s Day. The girls enjoyed dressing all festive for school. I made these Lucky Charms bars (which were delicious and I will likely be making them every year now) and we had some family fun participating in the Des Moines St. Paddy’s 5k. (T ran and I walked with the girls in the stroller).
5. T and I had fun seeing Olivia Rodrigo in concert this month. It was a really fun show and the vocals were so good. As I said in my caption, I wasn’t the oldest there but most people in my demographic or beyond did have a kid with them. I love my millennial-age music artists, but there will always be a part of me who is a perpetual teenage/20s age girl when it comes to music. And I’m good with that. Chappell Roan was the opener and was awesome to see as well.
6. We spent a fun afternoon at the Des Moines Children’s Museum this month. It’s definitely one of our go-to places for an hour or two of indoor fun.
7. Lake had a couple of fun activities this month. She had her first-ever show-and-tell (she took this puppy, which she received as a gift) and attended a classmate’s birthday party at Get Air.
8. The summer shoes the girls will be sporting. I got them in Taffy Pink and White and am planning on ordering some fun charms like these and these so they can add some fun flair.
9. I bought this blanket for both of the girls and they’ve been loving it for both sleeping and lounging around. I got the colors Ivory and one in Green.
10. I love my New Balance shoes and just saw this cute colorway.
11. If you’re a fan of Bridgerton and Bath & Body Works, then you might be all about this collab.
12. She’s a runner, she’s an (89 year old!) track star!
13. And lastly, ONE GOOD QUOTE:
